Author: Ida Patterson Case
Photography by: Marika Kaake Burke and Don Kaake
A new local history book, dedicated to the children of Angelica,
soon will be published by the Booster Citizens. "You are the future of
our town and the keepers of our history," reads the dedication to A Child’s
History of Angelica. "May you be as passionate about preserving our town
and its history as past generations."
The 26-page, soft-cover book is written by Ida Patterson Case, retired elementary
teacher at Angelica Central and later Genesee Valley. It is illustrated with
many color photographs by Marika Kaake Burke and Don Kaake.
The book contains brief biographies of Philip Church and his mother, Angelica
Schuyler Church, and of Moses Van Campen; information on public buildings, churches,
and private homes; and pages on croquet, the Shawmut Railroad, the County Fair,
and the cemetery.
"A Child’s History of Angelica" will be available at Heritage
Days, and in the local shops. You can also purchase them thru Lulu at their
market rate. Also in stores is "Color My World-Angelica", a local
history coloring book with drawings by Mrs. Case and Beth Schlau. These books
are for sale for $3.00.
